Taiwan's soaring economy beats forecast

Anping Property

Anping used to be a small island that was separated from the mainland of Taiwan until the 19th century. Due to a strong ocean current the small strip of land in between Anping and the mainland filled up gradually over time with sand, until it eventually became part of the mainland. Today Anping is a small district of Tainan city. Famous attractions include the Anping Castle also known as Zeelandia and the Eternal Golden Castle which was built in 1874 by a famous Qing Dynasty official. But the main fascination of visitors doesn't lie with those two impressive buildings. It is more so the ancient alleyways that criss cross the town as well as the old homes and tiny shops.

With a relative small amount of space available to build on due to Taiwan's mountainous territory, real estate listings are somewhat more meager than elsewhere. All though the cost of buying property is very affordable for overseas investors, this isn't so for locals. Most live in apartments and sometimes in houses depending on location. It is possible to find bargains that offer a good price and enough space, but they are harder to find.
