Hsinchu also called the “windy city” lies in the north western part of the island of Taiwan. Close to beaches and the mountains of the inland, the city is the center for the high technology industry in Taiwan. The Hsinchu Science and Technology Industrial Park (also known as Taiwan’s Silicon Valley) is home to some 360 high tech companies including Philips, TSMC, United Microelectronics Corporation and AU Optronics. Therefore Hsinchu has the highest income levels in Taiwan. The city has many good schools of international standards as well as several universities. It is a convenient 40minute drive from the CKS international airport and 1 hour drive from the capital of Taipei.
