Taichung city is located within the Taichung Basin which is situated along the western coastal plain and stretches nearly the whole length of the island of Taiwan. Bordered by mountains to the east and surrounded by rolling hills it is a green mixture of valleys, mountains and modern culture. The name of the city translates from Chinese into “Central Taiwan”. Taichung is a city of many temples, some constructed during the Ming dynasty and the popular attractions are a cultural hive for many locals and visitors to the town. It is the 3rd largest city in Taiwan and a well known fashion hot spot of the Taiwanese people.
